Our “White Stallion” at the Festival of Trees

Horseshoe ornament on MHM Professional Staging's Christmas tree for the Orlando Museum of Art Festival of Trees 2019

Every holiday season for the past 33 years, the Orlando Museum of Art has transformed its galleries into a Christmas wonderland known as the “Festival of Trees.” Each year, the museum invites local organizations to participate in the festivities by designing their very own Christmas tree. The festival begins with a gala opening night and continues for nine days. Throughout the duration of the event, there are daily musical performances, family entertainment, and delightful programs for all ages. MHM Professional Staging has participated in the Festival of Trees for many years, and this year we designed something extra special.

About the Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is organized by the Council of 101, which was founded in 1965 to further the cultural development and appreciation of the visual arts in Florida. This volunteer-based group has contributed more than $11M to the Orlando Museum of Art’s many exhibits and programs. Every year, the Council welcomes more than 20,000 visitors for this one very special event. All proceeds raised during the Festival go towards supporting Lifelong Learning at the museum, as well as exhibitions and programs.

The Festival of Trees includes the following holiday attractions:

  • Trees and vignettes designed by local artists, businesses, and designers
  • Santa Claus Lane, where Santa greets children of all ages
  • Festival Cafe, where you can enjoy a light lunch or dessert
  • Gingerbread Village, an entire area of the museum dedicated to gingerbread houses created by local professional bakers
  • The Holiday Boutique, a magical shopping place
  • … and more!

Our Equestrian Christmas Tree & Vignette

We were delighted to participate in the Festival of Trees again because we love to support our local community. However, this year, we wanted to do something a little different. Our Founder and CEO, Megan Morris, loves all animals but horses have a special place in her heart. So this year, we decided to design an equestrian-themed Christmas tree and vignette that would truly stand out from all the other trees. We used horseshoes and branches and little toy ponies as untraditional ornaments. Then, we incorporated natural materials like leather and burlap as garland. We completed the vignette with a saddle, hay bale, and cozy fur rugs to wrap up the theme. The final touch was to name the tree: “White Stallion.”
