Staging a House for Zombie House Flipping in Delaney Park (S2 E2)

In Season 2 Episode 2 of Zombie House Flipping, the crew tackles a Delaney Park home that was abandoned mid-renovation. Everything seemed to be going smoothly with the flip at first. The team actually thought they had sold the house before they had even finished the flip! Unfortunately, unexpected liens killed the deal. That meant the Zombie team needed to scramble to get the house listed and set up the open house before they drained their funds with additional carrying costs.
Thankfully, they knew who to call to get their house market-ready in no time: Megan Morris and the MHM Professional Staging team.
About the Zombie House

The home featured in the second episode of Zombie House Flipping season two is in the highly desirable Delaney Park neighborhood of Orlando, Florida. It has a one-car garage and sits at the top of a large, sloped front yard. The bright orange front door and beautiful brick paver driveway are warm and inviting. Our goal when staging this Delaney Park home for Zombie House Flipping was to make the inside just as inviting as the outside.
Staging the House in Delaney Park
The Zombie team chose Poised Taupe (SW 6039) as the paint color for the interior of the home. This provided a strong neutral base that would help the house stand out from the all-white homes that are so popular today. Our staging team selected furniture, accessories, and artwork to complement the wall color and help define the living spaces contained in the open concept floor plan.

The furnishings we chose to stage the Zombie House Flipping Delaney Park home are modern and sleek but still comfortable and inviting. We achieved this aesthetic by carefully choosing colors and materials throughout the house.
In the Kitchen
A kitchen can make or break a home sale, so we made sure to highlight the best features. Tall white bar chairs draw attention to the functional island with seating for three. Place settings help buyers envision themselves eating a snack or casual meal while chatting with the chef (or vice versa).

A touch of greenery helps to connect the light wood cabinets to the cool gray appliances and backsplash. The silver chair legs match the silver pendant lights and the silver hardware.
In the Dining Room
The dining room of the Zombie House Flipping home in Delaney Park is typical of most modern dining rooms today. It’s adjacent to the kitchen and living rooms with no walls in between to block off the spaces. The MHM staging team brought in a dark, sleek table to help anchor this space by providing visual weight.

Gray tufted Parsons chairs lend formality to a dining room that would otherwise be very casual. Large candlesticks and tall greenery combine to form a dramatic centerpiece on the table. Place settings and wine glasses demonstrate that this home is dinner-party-ready. The result is a visual moment that encourages buyers to linger just a little longer in this part of the house.

In the Living Room and the Flex Room
We love the living room of the Delaney Park home featured on this episode of Zombie House Flipping. The crew made a great decision to extend the space, which created even more common area for the homeowners. The challenge in staging this part of the home was to showcase the new living area as two distinct spaces.

We used a large area rug to define the living room as its own space, separate from the nook beyond. We also pulled in the orange color from the front door with throw pillows. Using color is a great way to define a zone within an open floor plan.
The visual moment we created in the living room is further defined by a modern coffee table with a mix of floral and industrial accents. The dark wood of the coffee table ties into the dark dining room table, unifying the two spaces.

The off-white throw pillows connect to the creamy, cushy chairs placed in the flex room just beyond the living room. We staged the flex room as a place for intimate conversation or quite reading, but the beauty of flex spaces is that they can transform to suit the needs of the homeowner.

In the Bedrooms

We staged the bedrooms in soft neutrals and dark wood to match the rest of the home. Artwork with beautiful blue accents brings the rooms to life and complements the gorgeous neutral wall color. Any family looking for a Delaney Park home can easily imagine themselves living in this Zombie House Flipping treasure!

In the Home Office
Home offices are a great bonus in any home. In this home office, we utilized the same color palette as the rest of the house and added a pop of green to set the room apart. The desk combines metal legs with a wooden top that connects the dining room and living room tables.
