Staging the Worst House on the Block for Zombie House Flipping (S3 E1)

MHM Professional Staging is a proud partner of the A&E show, Zombie House Flipping filmed in Orlando. On Zombie House Flipping season three episode one, the Zombie team takes on a home in the desirable area of Lake Como Park. The house is just a short walk away from the brand new Lake Como school. Although the home was the worst house on the block, the team saw the value in its prime location.

About the Zombie House

Exterior of the Lake Como Park house with a yellow door and wooden beams.

Besides the home’s prime location, this foreclosed home didn’t have much else going for it. The outside had an uneven paint job, and the inside was a wreck. The kitchen was vandalized, and there was graffiti all over. However, the home did have a few redeemable features, like its sizable backyard and wet bar.

As the Zombie Team worked on the house, they incurred many unexpected expenses. Backed up drains caused a mini sewage flood causing the need for plumbing repairs. On top of that, the roof needed work, and a large dead tree needed to be removed from the backyard. These fixes caused a couple of close calls when a fire started on the roof and the tree almost fell on a vehicle. Despite the setbacks, the team was able to turn the home around and make a bigger profit than they predicted.

Staging the Home

Our staging team, led by Megan Morris, had a lot of fun staging this Lake Como home for Zombie House Flipping season three episode one. The Zombie team did an excellent job of rearranging the floor plan. We love the modern fixtures they chose. The luxury vinyl planks they used for flooring look fantastic. The gray-colored walls and crisp trim created an easy canvas for us to work with.

In the entryway, we placed a blue tufted bench with a couple of throw pillows. This addition makes the entryway more welcoming and cozy. It also helps fill in the space where the dividing wall is, so it doesn’t look too bare.

Living Room / Wetbar Space

Living room with sofa, transparent coffee table, gray patterned rug, shelf display, and wetbar staged by MHM Professional Staging for Zombie House Flipping season three episode one.

In the living room, we chose a beautiful gray patterned area rug to break up the flooring. We selected a transparent coffee table to help the room look more spacious. To add contrast, we chose darker furniture. We picked a stylish couch with nailhead details to match the stylish wet bar with stunning mirror tile. The wet bar was styled with a drink tray filled with classy drink accessories and a gorgeous flower.

Office / Playroom

A room that is part office, part playroom with children themed artwork and painted beach canvas staged by MHM Professional Staging for Zombie House Flipping season three episode one.

We staged one of the rooms as an office and playroom to show families the different options. Since families were the target clientele, it was important to make the home appear family-friendly. We chose a beautiful beach canvas for the office and kid-friendly art for the playroom side.

In the Dining Room

Dining room with rectangular dining table, parson chairs, and artwork that complements the furniture staged by MHM Professional Staging for Zombie House Flipping season three episode one.

For the dining room, we chose a rectangular dining set — the perfect shape for this long layout. The comfortable Parson chairs make the space look cozy and elegant. We chose artwork that perfectly complemented the furniture while adding color. Of course, we had to finish things off with a beautiful table setting and vase of flowers.

In the Kitchen

There wasn’t much needed to make the kitchen look great. The fixtures and gorgeous tile steal the show. We simply added a few jars to the countertops to make it looked more lived in. We also added a couple of plants to make the place more lively and set up plates by the bar.

In the Master Bedroom

Spacious master bedroom with large rug, bed, armchair, nightstands, and artwork staged by MHM Professional Staging for Zombie House Flipping season three episode one.

This was such a spacious master bedroom to fill. To cover all the wall space, we chose a few large paintings with neutral imagery. We selected a large area rug to break up the flooring and dark nightstands to add contrast. We also added some sophisticated armchairs that balance nicely with the casual barn door. To top it off, we added greenery and decorative bottles.

In the Master Bathroom

The Zombie team did an amazing job on the bathroom. They replaced the original shower block design with something more sleek. We especially love the herringbone subway tile. To warm up this bright bathroom we added warm woods like the mirrors on the wall and the wooden structure. We also added some greenery, towels, and a decorative bottle.

In the Playroom

To keep the house family-friendly, we added a playroom with a kids table and topped it off with some colored pencils and an adorable teddy bear. We chose a plush rug and gray armchair to keep things cozy. We added stylish shelves and styled it with greenery, books, and pots of flowers. Again we mixed artwork for the adults with children-themed artwork.

In the Screened-in Patio

Patio area with picnic table, outdoor patio furniture over a rug, and a plant staged by MHM Professional Staging for Zombie House Flipping season three episode one.

We loved the finished result of the patio, especially the retractable screening. To fill in the space, we added a picnic table so the family can picture enjoying an outdoor meal together. We also chose patio furniture to create a space for outdoor relaxation. We chose a colorful rug and teal throw pillows to brighten things up, and just like we finish off every other room, we added a plant.
