Transforming a TV Dinner Zombie for Zombie House Flipping (S2 E5)

Zombie House Flipping main title

Zombie House Flipping, the A&E tv show set right here in Orlando, follows a team of house flippers as they transform “zombie” houses into beautiful homes. In episode five of season two, the Zombie team took on a tv dinner nightmare of a house. From the “master disaster” of a master bedroom to the choppy layout and mismatched floor, this house was in need of serious renovation…

In its original state, this zombie was completely unlivable. There was a giant stack of tv dinner containers in the kitchen and virtually no kitchen appliances to speak of (unless you count the microwave!). The bathrooms were a putrid pink, and the pool was filled with murky water and debris. However, by the end of the episode—thanks to the crew’s hard work and the savvy staging provided by MHM Professional Staging—this tv dinner nightmare became a beautiful home that pulled in several offers from buyers.

About the Zombie House

The house featured in the fifth episode of Zombie House Flipping season two is located in the Dover Shores West neighborhood, across the street from Lake Giles. The house has ample floor space and includes a bonus room and a pool. Although the kitchen was initially non-existent, the Zombie team was able to transform the space into one of the highlights of the home. All that was left to do after the crew finished construction was the staging. Continue reading to see how we chose furniture and accents to complement the gorgeous new design of this former zombie.

Staging the Home

Staging the tv dinner zombie for Zombie House Flipping was a breeze. The warm gray tiles and modern finishes throughout the house set the tone. All we needed to do was continue that design story by selecting modern furniture, accents, and artwork.

In the Living Room

All it took was knocking down a few walls for the living room of the tv dinner zombie to be completely transformed. With the new, open layout, our staging designers were able to bring in comfortable seating and a coffee table and still find room for a functional console table. The artwork selection combined trendy with modern to create a youthful and sophisticated aesthetic. The warm cream rug and golden accents were the perfect complements to the warm gray tiles.

The Zombie House Flipping crew outdid themselves transforming the tv dinner graveyard into a gorgeous modern kitchen. The stylish cabinetry and leather finish countertops look stunning with the mosaic tile backsplash. With such a fabulous foundation to start from, our designers had no trouble finding accents and furniture for this space.

Neutral place settings along the bar brought out the warm tones in the granite counters without distracting from them. Comfortable bar seating invited buyers to try out the bar area and envision themselves having a quick breakfast in their new home. A few strategically placed plants and kitchen miscellanea show off the ample prep space and make the house feel less like a showroom and more like a home.

In the Dining Room

The dining room off the kitchen is filled with natural light thanks to Ashlee’s suggestion to add french doors. A simple, round dining table with glass top help to keep the space feeling light and airy. Tufted parsons chairs are sleek yet inviting and would be perfect for a dinner party or a long conversation with a bottle of wine.

In the Master Suite

What was a “master disaster” become a soothing master retreat. Our staging designers brought in warm wood tones and a neutral bed frame. Gentle blue-greens add visual interest and tie the scheme into the rest of the home. The artwork across from the bed could easily be replaced with a television, but we loved the calming effect of this modern painting.

The master bathroom isn’t very large, but it makes the best use of the space. The horizontal lines in the gorgeous countertop draw your eye to the frameless glass shower, where the quirky bubble tiles running vertically down the wall help the shower space seem taller. All this room needed was a couple of transparent accent pieces on the vanity and fresh white towels to make it feel relaxed and spa-like.

In the Guest Bedroom

We staged the guest room with a full-size bed frame, two nightstands, and seating to show off the amount of space in the room. This helps buyers begin to visualize their own furniture in the home. Modern artwork in this room ties into the artwork in the living room, making the design of the whole house feel cohesive.

The putrid pink guest bathroom became a stunning modern bathroom with the same gorgeous countertop featured in the master bathroom. With such a large countertop, we were able to bring in an oversized vase as well as succulents to accent the space.

In the Office

We staged the final bedroom of the home as a home office. It was the perfect size for an office, with lots of natural light. Minimal furniture positioned just the right way keeps the room feeling spacious and functional.

The bonus room was one of our favorite spaces to stage in this house! The Zombie House Flipping crew did a great job of creating a functional, multi-purpose space in the former tv dinner nightmare of a house. The bonus room is so spacious that we were able to create a relaxed seating area and bring in a poker table. This staging setup highlights the versatility of the room and invites buyers to envision their own friends over for a night of games and cocktails.
